Welcome to 7th grade American History I. This year we will focus on studying the earliest Americans/Native Americans up to the Civil War. Eighth grade will then pick up from the Civil War and continue through the Twentieth Century. Although you will be familiar with many of the ideas we will study; Native Americans, Thirteen Colonies, American Revolution... we will be looking at each unit with more depth.
As we go through the units it is imperative that students are studying and reviewing material regularly. I have a lot of PBL (project based learning) planned for this year. We will take notes and review information in class, but ideally we would then spend more time on projects, primary sources, presentations, readers theatre, posters, foldables, video clips, crafts... In order for us to work on fun projects, students must utilize resources like Edmodo/Prezi, and show they have a firm grasp of subject matter.
We will also be implementing online text books this year. These books are accessible in school and at home on any Flash supported device. Students will each have a personalized account for their work. The text book will be used primarily for homework to supplement in class learning. However, all tests will be based on the notes and work done in class. For this purpose chapter outlines will be shared with students at the end of each chapter, using Google Drive & Edmodo, to help them study.

If you joined last year you are already a member of all the groups. Please see me if you have any issues with your accounts, I can fix them. Under no circumstances should you create another account. Anyone with multiple accounts will be removed.
